OPENING CEREMONY
Monday, August 19th 2019

On Monday morning, on the fourth day of my stay in the Philippines. I started this story at 05.00 am I woke up and prayed and continued to prepare for the opening ceremony of the SEA-TEACHER and SEA-TVET program to be held in the North La Union campus rectorate meeting room.

Before the opening ceremony, we were part of the morning campus routine ceremony every Monday with students from elementary to high school on the North campus. At exactly 7:00 a.m. the ceremony started and proceeded solemnly. I feel a little strange because this is our first time at a ceremony in the Filipino language, such as reading texts and singing Filipino songs, which we’ve heard for the first time.

At 8:00 a.m. we had gathered in the campus rectorate room, at this event Prof. Farland as the MC opened the opening of the SEA-TEACHER and SEA-TVET program and several campus officials gave remarks such as the vice president and staff leaders such as administration, finance and, of course, the welcome and opening ceremony for our program directly to President DMMMSU Dr. Jaime I. Manuel, Jr.

There is something unique and accessible in my opinion when in the middle of the president’s speech he suddenly called me, which at that time I sat in the back seat, he asked me to stand up and I immediately stood up at that time, I was a little surprised what was my fault ?, in my mind, then he said “I like the hat that you wear it was very good I like it” if you may after this event you can leave it for me “I just said yes sir. Actually on that day I and all the other Indonesian participants wore our Amasing traditional uniforms from ours regions, so I happened to be from Bali so I used a hat called “Udeng”. At that time we were introduced one by one by the committee to the campus and the event was closed with a group photo with campus officials. As for the participants who attended the opening ceremony, around 35 people included students of the Sea Teacher program, Sea TVET, 6 people for the Credit Transfer program to be study on this campus for 5 months or one semester.
After the opening ceremony, Mam Annie immediately approached me and asked if you were willing to give your Udeng to the President? I said yes, I was willing, and Mam Anie took me to the President’s office immediately. It’s a rare moment, in my opinion, to meet the President directly in his office. I was immediately escorted to the President’s office, and we talked a little, and then when I submitted the udeng, the President asked me to put the udeng to him, and I obeyed, and we were immediately photographed by Mam Annie. This is an unforgettable memory, because I’m very happy to be able to take photos of the president of the campus where college students don’t necessarily get opportunities like this.

At 10:30 we arrived at the Middle Campus, located in the district of San Fernando, one of the three other campuses in the middle of the city. When we arrived at this campus, we were immediately introduced to the Cancellor campus in the Cancellor Room and received a welcome return and advice from the canceler’s father to learn as much about this DMMMSU campus.

After meeting the cancelor, we toured the Middle Campus, accompanied by our Buddies and Coordinators, and we were subjected to a certain bag or room, such as an administration room, study room, laboratory, canteen, etc., and after getting tired around the campus, we had lunch while resting in the meeting room and having dinner, we went back to the North Campus in Bacnotan.

DMMMSU CLASS
Tuesday, August 20th 2019
On Tuesday we prepared to hurry to attend lectures at the Middle Campus, coincidentally in this case I was categorized as a student at the Middle Campus, so I took part in many activities at the Middle Campus despite living on the North Campus, we were picked up by bus at 7 a.m. and to the Middle Campus, which takes about 50 minutes to an hour.

After arriving at the Middle Campus, we were immediately accompanied by buddies who faithfully accompanied us around the campus. Today we are scheduled to attend lectures in the Department of Food Technology. Before we attend lectures we are always introduced by our coordinator to lecturers who are teaching d classes. We follow lectures and d food technology laboratories.

We attended this lecture in food technology because two of our friends from the sea tvet program were majoring in food technology and we were invited to take a class with them because our Industrial Engineering department was not on this campus, only Industrial Technology. We enjoyed this lecture until a few days ahead while waiting for confirmation from the factory when it will receive us. Eating for a while I followed the lecture first to fill in the blanks.
