At 07.00 am the Dmmmsu bus has come to pick us up at the BPS North Campus hostel, this morning, we had an English Class activity held in the South DMMMSU dictionary, Agoo. When exactly at 8:30 we start the topic in the first class session, “english made easy 1” which starts with an introduction and gives 3 favorite words that describe ourselves, after that we play games using words with the Flashback method that we are asked to make a big circle and take turns mentioning the words in English according to the agreed topic and the last session 1 which is mentored directly by Ms. Ginie Cortez is playing using scores where we are divided into 5 groups, while the game has several themes such as: What am I ?, Google, Fact or Buff and ect.

In the second session, the class “English on foot” in this session we were divided into 2 teams, we were introduced to buildings in the South DMMMSU campus such as an administration building where sports and toured around the campus with the aim of understanding the campus situation and the practice of speaking English while walk around the neighborhood. We really enjoy and feel happy learning to speak English because it is informal so it can be more relaxed in speaking.

In the third session we have a gymnastics instructor who will guide us in performing movements such as the Zumba dance. In this case we are taught a typical Filipino dance, the Tyclos Dance. The movements are not too difficult to do because while learning we are also accompanied by counts such as gymnastic movements, these are repetitive and about 5 types of movements that we imitate. The participants seemed very happy and full of enthusiasm.

Even though we have participated in this activity all day, but from the DMMMSU campus we provide lunch, snacks and mineral water which is always available next to our study room, this activity provides many benefits because besides we learn English we also understand cultural differences which is a new thing we need to learn.

English Proficiency 2
Monday, August 26th 2019

This Monday happened to be a national holiday in the Philippines, but for us as exchange students it was very ineffective to just stay in the room. then the DMMMSU campus always uses the day off for our activities, this time our activity is a continuation of previous learning namely English language skills, but this time it is a little different because we learn to speak English we are also taught about basic Tagalok language which is a basic conversation that is often used in daily life, such as asking names, jobs, asking age, asking someone’s condition, to learning to count.

We learned very cheerfully because each of what was taught tentor thereafter will be given a quiz of questions about the language of Tagalok before some of my friends got prizes because they could answer funding quickly.
besides that we also learned to sing some Filipino songs that are very famous for Filipinos. We were taught Bahay Kubo and Ako Aima Saya songs.
To learn Tagalok for us Indonesians, it might not be too difficult because some of our vocabulary is very similar even if there is the same as the pronunciation as well.

To perfect our English this time we practice third English Proficiency Training . This class takes place in Bacnotan which takes 2 hours from our hostel on Agoo. So we have to leave early because the class would be start at morning.
Arriving at the bacnotan we immediately entered the learning room, there were already a lot of our English language tutors who were ready to teach us. for today’s theme which is tips for public speaking, they taught us how to be good speakers using movements that can grab the attention of the audience and we are trained to dare to express opinions in public.
not only understand the theory we are asked to immediately practice it in class in front of our friends.
Entering the second session we made a game using a number of clues starting from the room. We have to follow the instructions given in a paper, first we get the clue to go to the canteen to buy mineral water, then at the cashier we get the second clue, we have to go to a building. and had to find a doctor who was given the initials of a name, so we had to go around on this vast campus with the respective group and try to be the fastest to finish this game.
This kind of English training makes us gain broad insights such as having to know to know a clue, must understand many terms, and must dare to ask people we don’t know. of course we will be trained and our intelligence will increase. I really like this game.
