Introduction

Welcome Universal Leaf Philippines Inc.

Tuesday, August 23th  2019

Universal Leaf Philippines Incorporate (ULPI) is a company that welcomed me as an intern for a month, this factory was already very popular, not only in this country but in several other countries, coincidentally this factory was located in Agoo, La Union. This Factory was a key factory in the Philippines, and the ride to my residence was only about five minutes away by a Tricycle vehicle. At 7:30 a.m. in the morning, we left ready to go to the factory on the first day of our internship program.

As normal, before entering the facility, we must first leave our ID and display a security card at the plant entrance and record our arrival time. At the start of the entry, the scent of tobacco was already smelling, of course, this factory is the largest tobacco factory in the Philippines. Activities at this plant are complete for 24 hours, but there are two shifts, morning and evening. And for us intern students, the training begins from 08.00 a.m. to 17.00 p.m.

And on the first day after I arrived at the factory, I was immediately accompanied by workers from Human Resources, who we usually call Miss Genie, and immediately escorted us to a special room to attend a meeting on the rules at the ULPI facility, our job process, to the allowance that we will receive as part of the work practice. She explained the company profile and the factory divisions in the Philippines, then clarified the rules and prohibitions, while at the factory he also explained the department that was appropriate for us as industrial engineering students. And in contrast to Miss. Genie. There’s also Staff in the safety and health department who discusses how to deal with emergency situations, such as a Assembly point, and describes the areas of the plant that we need to learn before starting work in this factory.

This department was our department of Industrial Engineering, after a briefing and a presentation on the plant, and we were immediately escorted to our departure Green Leaf Logistics (GLL). We were immediately escorted to the director and introduced to all the workers. While we were escorted by our manger to the area where the job of the GLL division was to do the work. And we were introduced to the director of the Forklift, Sir Jarry Mee, who was the one who accompanied me every morning operation for the next few days.
